A Dose of Surrealist Hipster Romance

A Dose of Surrealist Hipster Romance

It's a "traditional story of guy has girl, loses girl, villain gets girl, they duel, [guy] wins girl back ... but set in a bizarre parallel-universe kinda other-world," Alan Wilkis explains when I ask him to describe his latest music video, a collaboration with director Michael Lawrence. The duel is a dance battle set on the fringe of Coney Island and our hero is played by Fabrizio Goldstein, a TV personality/actor/writer/model/rapper who goes by the name Fat Jew. The video flaunts an Instagram-style faded look, but it's real -- shot on Kodak film. You might recognize Wilkis's style -- we've used his music in our own videos about everything from space suits to Miami's startup scene. This track, "Old-Fashioned Girl" featuring Joywave, is available on iTunes and Spotify.
