Inside an Architectural Salvage Shop
"Down in the basements of many homes people have things they never even think about ... it's a treasure trove of old boxes and pulleys and wheels and things that people just throw aside -- and they're absolutely gorgeous, beautiful pieces!" Linda Lee Mellish says. She runs a shop in Philadelphia, ReStore, that sells old and antique items -- furniture, glassware, and architectural pieces. In this documentary portrait from Cinema Mercantile, she describes what makes these forgotten items so valuable. The video is part of a series focusing on small businesses and handcrafted products. Mike Collins, the director, describes the making of the project in an interview here.
